Permission-based marketing messages
We want to obtain your permission to communicate with you via email or text. We adhere to Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which covers implied and express consent to receive marketing messages. You will receive event news from us if you either purchased tickets from us in the past or subscribed to updates from our website. You may unsubscribe from our emails anytime by following the directions at the end of each message. Select the unsubscribe link or type STOP on SMS. Please contact us if you have a request, suggestion, or question.
Photography and video capture
By attending an event, you consent to our photographing or video recording you, and we may use your image or likeness for promotional purposes on our social media channels, website, and other marketing materials. Rest assured, if employed, the professional photographer will respect your privacy while capturing the essence of the night and will handle all media with care. If you have any concerns or wish to opt out of being photographed or recorded, please inform a member of our staff upon arrival.
We do not take or post photos online, such as on Facebook, without the subject’s consent. Should you change your mind, or if we posted imagery you don’t like, Contact Us to have it removed from our social media or the website. We don’t sell or supply high-resolution pictures to anyone. We appreciate your understanding.
We’re excited for participants to share their experiences with friends, such as on Instagram. Attitudes towards being photographed for artistic expression vary significantly between individuals. Of course, do not take or post a photo online if it’s not welcome. We recommend that people nod or gesture approval to each other before or after taking pictures and videos. We take complaints seriously when someone fails to treat others with respect, as outlined in our Guidelines.

Online forms
We safeguard your info against potential hackers. As you can see in the address bar above, the URL starts with https and therefore has an SSL certificate. Select the padlock icon in the address bar to view all detailed information related to the certificate.
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal data, and you discard it when you close your browser.
Site comments
When people leave comments on the site, it collects the data shown in the comments form, as well as the person’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service (profile avatars) to see if you are using it. See Gravatar’s privacy policy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public alongside your comment.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, and music) from Facebook, Instagram, SoundCloud, MixCloud, TikTok, and YouTube. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and log in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We don’t share your data with third parties beyond the utilities mentioned on this page. We don’t sell your data. Staff review information submitted to the website.
We use Google Analytics and WordPress to gain insights into trends and enhance the website’s functionality. Google Analytics and WordPress store cookies on your device to keep track of usage data over time. There’s an opt-out browser add-on from Google that helps make opting out easy. An automated spam detection service called Akismet checks visitor comments.
How long do we retain your data?
For users who register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (users cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you leave a comment in the news blog, the system retains the comment and its metadata for 3 years after your last activity on the site. This data allows us to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments, rather than holding them in a moderation queue. Comments may be retained longer if required for legal or security purposes.
Retention Periods:
- User account information: Until account deletion requested
- Event ticket purchases: 7 years for tax and legal compliance
- Email marketing lists: Until unsubscribe requested
- Website analytics: 26 months (Google Analytics default)
- Site comments: 3 years after last activity
- Event photos/videos: Indefinitely for promotional use (unless removal requested)
What rights do you have over your data?
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. Data deletion does not include data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Your rights include:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal information
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request removal of your personal data (subject to legal requirements)
- Portability: Receive your data in a commonly used format
- Withdrawal of Consent: Opt out of marketing communications or photo use
Data breach notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm to individuals, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of discovering the breach. We will also report the breach to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law. Our notification will include what happened, what information was involved, steps we’ve taken to address the breach, and steps you can take to protect yourself.
